The average UK wedding costs £20,604. See what couples really pay in Worcestershire, with local venue prices, supplier price bands and sample budgets.
By Getting Married in Worcestershire | Last reviewed October 2026
Around £20,000 is a useful starting benchmark for a Worcestershire wedding, not a measured county average. Bridebook reports a West Midlands average of £20,006 and a UK average of £20,604. Neither national survey publishes a Worcestershire-wide total. Your guest numbers, date and venue will decide whether that benchmark fits.
A small register office celebration can cost far less, while an exclusive-use wedding can pass £35,000. This guide brings together national survey figures, published local venue ranges, council fees and supplier-guide estimates. It separates researched prices from illustrative budgets, so you can compare like with like.
The average cost of a UK wedding is £20,604 in Bridebook's 2026 report; Hitched reports £21,990. Bridebook surveyed around 7,000 newly married and actively planning couples. Hitched's report uses post-wedding data from 2,020 newlyweds. These are separate benchmarks, not interchangeable price lists.
Bridebook's figure covers the wedding day and excludes the honeymoon and engagement ring. Budget for these separately rather than assuming they fit inside your wedding-day total.
The average hides a wide spread. Bridebook reports that a quarter of couples spend £10,000 or less. Its average was £20,775 in 2024 and £20,822 in 2025, so the latest figure is slightly lower.
Hitched's January 2026 press release found that 56% of newlyweds overspent their original budget and 61% used gifted family money. A realistic budget with a contingency matters more than matching an average.
Use the £20,006 West Midlands average as a regional reference, then build your own Worcestershire total from quotes. There is no verified county-wide total in the surveys used here. A mid-size day might be planned around £20,000, but neither its guest count nor its inclusions are guaranteed by that number.
| Region | Average wedding cost: Bridebook 2026 | Compared with the West Midlands |
|---|---|---|
| London | £26,986 | £6,980 more |
| South East | £22,637 | £2,631 more |
| South West | £22,304 | £2,298 more |
| UK average | £20,604 | £598 more |
| West Midlands | £20,006 | Regional benchmark |
| Wales | £19,175 | £831 less |
| East Midlands | £17,981 | £2,025 less |
The regional figures suggest more scope for a lower budget than in London or the South East. They do not prove that every Worcestershire venue is cheaper than a comparable venue elsewhere.
Bridebook's Worcestershire directory also quotes £5,818 for venue spending in Worcestershire and the wider West Midlands. That explanatory text refers to its 2025 report. Treat it as an older regional indicator, not a verified 2026 county venue average or a like-for-like comparison with the £6,040 UK venue figure.

Venue hire and catering account for 51% of Bridebook's average budget split. Use the percentages below as a starting template, then shift money towards what matters most to you.
| Category | Share of budget | On a £20,000 spending plan |
|---|---|---|
| Venue hire and catering | 51% | £10,200 |
| Wedding attire | 19% | £3,800 |
| Photography and videography | 10% | £2,000 |
| Flowers and décor | 7% | £1,400 |
| Entertainment | 7% | £1,400 |
| Other suppliers | 6% | £1,200 |
These shares are averages, not rules. A register office wedding followed by a restaurant meal will look different from a dry-hire barn with outside catering.
Keep your contingency inside your total if £20,000 is a firm ceiling. Reserve £1,000 to £2,000 first, then allocate the remaining £18,000 to £19,000. Adding contingency on top of the full table instead raises your total to £21,000 to £22,000.
The Worcestershire wedding planning checklist helps you plan the stages of booking. Confirm deposit and balance deadlines in each supplier's contract.
Local guide ranges help you shortlist; a written quote tells you what your own wedding will cost. The national figures below come from Bridebook's 2026 report. Local bands are indicative examples from our existing supplier guides, not a fresh survey of every Worcestershire supplier.

Where the table says "ask for a quote", we have no verified county figure. National category averages describe different samples and services: do not add every average together to predict one wedding, or assume local suppliers are always cheaper.
A full-day wedding photographer in Worcestershire commonly falls within the £1,500 to £2,500 guide band. Entry-level and shorter coverage can cost less; premium coverage can cost more. Our wedding photographer cost guide explains what to compare.
Our wedding videographers guide includes providers such as Two Towers Media in Honeybourne and Polka Dot Productions in Pershore. Compare coverage hours, films, audio, travel and delivery rather than headline price alone.
The £350 to £900 DJ guide range is not directly comparable with the £1,061 national reception-music average, which includes other kinds of music. Check playing time, set-up, lighting and any sound-limiter requirements.
An LED dance floor or extra lighting can add to the quote. See our best wedding DJs guide and how to choose a wedding DJ. For live music, browse wedding bands and musicians.
Our wedding cake makers guide includes published starting-price examples from Baked With Love By Linda and luxury makers such as Perfect Cakes Co. Portions, sugar flowers, delivery and set-up all affect the final quote.
Pre-loved and off-the-peg gowns can reduce dress costs. Our bridal shops guide compares local boutiques, including options around Evesham. Keep alterations and accessories separate from the dress price.
Andrews Wedding Car Hire's website advertises prices from £275, checked on 6 October 2026. Other local supplier bands above are carried from our linked guides and should be reconfirmed before booking.

The lower end often relates to less popular dates or a smaller package. Do not assume every low price buys exclusive use, Saturday access or a full reception.
Bridebook reports average reception catering of £5,406 and evening catering of £2,002. A marquee or tipi averages £4,633. These are separate category averages, not automatic additions to every venue package. Check what is already included before comparing marquee hire with an all-in venue.

Standard published registrar options range from £62 to £720 for 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027. These are ceremony fees, not the complete cost of marrying. Add notice fees and any certificates, advance-booking fees or special-date supplements that apply.
| Ceremony type: 2026–27 | Monday to Friday | Saturday | Sunday or bank holiday |
|---|---|---|---|
| Statutory, Worcester Register Office | £62, Wednesdays only | Not available | Not available |
| Classic, registration suite | £270 | £310 | Not available |
| Fully Enhanced, registration suite | Not available | £360 | Not available |
| Classic, approved venue | £575 | £635 | £700 |
| Fully Enhanced, approved venue | £645 | £675 | £720 |
Source: Worcestershire County Council ceremony fees, checked 6 October 2026. Special bank holidays can attract different rates; bespoke ceremonies start at £660.
The basic statutory ceremony plus two standard notices totals £146: £62 + £42 + £42. This excludes marriage certificates and any additional charges. Standard notice fees may not apply to every couple: Home Office referrals and overseas divorce documents can involve additional fees or checks. Confirm your circumstances with the registration service.
Statutory ceremonies are held on Wednesdays at Worcester Register Office and are limited to the couple and two witnesses. The Glass Room at The Hive holds up to 60 people in total, including the couple and officials. A Classic weekday ceremony costs £270 before notices.
Our Worcester Register Office guide covers booking, documents and photography rules. Give notice in good time: the usual minimum is 29 days, but immigration referrals can extend the waiting period to 70 days.
A Classic registrar service at an approved venue on a Saturday costs £635, £325 more than the £310 Classic registration-suite fee. Venue hire remains separate. The council takes a deposit when booking, may charge an advance-booking fee beyond 12 months, and requires the balance three months before the ceremony.
Guest numbers affect food, drink and capacity, but average spend per guest is not the saving from removing one person. Hitched reports £272 per head; Bridebook reports £278. These figures divide overall spending by guest numbers and include fixed costs.
| Guest count | Average total cost: Bridebook 2026 | Approximate cost per guest |
|---|---|---|
| 50 guests | £15,162 | £303 |
| 70 guests | £21,791 | £311 |
| 100 guests | £22,510 | £225 |
| 120+ guests | £26,000 | £217 at 120 guests |
These are survey groups, not quotations for the same wedding at different sizes. Smaller celebrations can have a higher cost per head because the photographer, outfits and registrar do not shrink with the guest list.
Hitched's January press release gives £35,591 for 101+ guests, while its cost-guide page gives £30,591. Because those published sources disagree, we do not use that figure to set a local budget.
Decide guest numbers before shortlisting venues. For an accurate saving, ask what the caterer charges for each additional guest and whether a venue minimum spend still applies.
Each budget can support a different kind of day, but these are planning scenarios rather than guaranteed packages. Replace the assumptions with written quotes for your date.
A £10,000 budget can work for around 30 to 50 guests with careful choices. Think a ceremony at The Hive followed by a restaurant, pub or hotel function room. A simpler menu, part-day photography, local DJ and smaller cake help control the total.
This is more common than many couples think: Bridebook reports that a quarter of UK couples spend £10,000 or less.
Around £20,000 is a reasonable starting scenario for 70 to 90 guests at a carefully chosen barn, hotel or manor house. Whether it covers a full meal, evening food, photography and flowers depends on the package, season and minimum spend.
Common trade-offs include skipping videography, choosing a Friday or keeping transport simple.
A £30,000 plan can allow a larger guest list, both photography and videography, and more styling. It does not guarantee a premium exclusive-use venue on a peak Saturday: some venue packages alone can use much of that budget.
For a more complex day, consider whether a planner would help with coordination and supplier management. Browse wedding planners in Worcestershire.
These illustrative budgets total exactly £10,000, £20,000 and £30,000, including contingency. Registrar lines use the council's 2026–27 fees plus two standard £42 notices. The other lines are planning allocations, not supplier offers or guaranteed market prices.
| Category | £10,000: 40 guests | £20,000: 80 guests | £30,000: 110 guests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Setting | The Hive, then a restaurant | Barn or hotel, off-peak date | Larger exclusive-use celebration |
| Registrar and standard notices | £354 | £719 | £759 |
| Venue hire | Included in food and drink | £5,000 | £7,500 |
| Food and drink | £4,400 | £6,000 | £9,000 |
| Photography | £800 | £1,800 | £2,000 |
| Videography | Not included | Not included | £1,500 |
| Outfits | £1,000 | £1,500 | £2,000 |
| Hair and makeup | £300 | £450 | £600 |
| Flowers and décor | £450 | £1,100 | £1,500 |
| DJ | £350 | £500 | £800 |
| Cake | £250 | £450 | £600 |
| Rings | £600 | £600 | £900 |
| Stationery | £100 | £250 | £400 |
| Transport | £275 | £300 | £450 |
| Contingency | £1,121 | £1,331 | £1,991 |
| Total | £10,000 | £20,000 | £30,000 |
Venue, food and drink take 44% of the smallest budget and 55% of the other two. That broadly follows the national pattern of roughly half the budget going on venue and catering.
The £354 ceremony line is a weekday Classic registration-suite ceremony (£270 + £84). The £719 line is a Saturday Classic ceremony at an approved venue (£635 + £84). The £759 line is a Saturday Fully Enhanced ceremony at an approved venue (£675 + £84).
Allow for certificates, any extra booking fees and insurance within your contingency or another allocation. Honeymoon, engagement ring and guest accommodation are not included. If your actual quotes exceed a line, adjust elsewhere rather than treating the total as a promise.
Season and day of the week can make a substantial difference, but compare the same venue and package on different dates. Bridebook reports June at £23,809, August at £22,351 and September at £22,116. February (£17,563) and October (£17,873) are lower-spending months in its 2026 data.
The June–February difference is £6,246. It is a comparison between survey groups, not a guaranteed saving from moving your own wedding.
At Worcestershire approved venues, a Classic registrar costs £60 less Monday to Friday than on Saturday: £575 rather than £635. Venue and supplier savings vary independently.
Ask for Friday, Sunday and winter prices before ruling a venue out. Check whether lower prices also mean different access hours, minimum guest numbers or fewer included services.
Small exclusions can undermine an apparently affordable quote. Dress alterations, delivery and overtime should be budgeted before you sign, not discovered after deposits are paid.
Ask each supplier for an itemised quote covering delivery, set-up, collection and likely overtime. Keep payment deadlines and cancellation terms with your budget.
The most useful changes are usually guest numbers, date and venue package. Protect the two or three things you care about most, then compare the rest.
Use the Start Planning hub to work through the rest. A budget should reflect your priorities, not a list of every available extra.
Around £20,000 is a useful planning benchmark because Bridebook's 2026 West Midlands average is £20,006. It is not a measured Worcestershire-only average. A small register office celebration can cost much less, while a large exclusive-use day can pass £35,000.
Bridebook's 2026 report gives £20,604; Hitched's separate report gives £21,990. They use different samples. Bridebook excludes the honeymoon and engagement ring, and reports that a quarter of couples spend £10,000 or less.
The eleven published venue listings in this guide range from £500 to £19,650, with very different inclusions. Bridebook's directory quotes an older £5,818 Worcestershire and West Midlands venue figure in text referring to its 2025 report. It should not be treated as a verified 2026 county average.
A £62 statutory ceremony at Worcester Register Office plus two standard £42 notices totals £146 before certificates and any extra fees. It is available on Wednesdays with the couple and two witnesses. Confirm eligibility and charges with the registration service.
Yes, a carefully planned small wedding can fit £10,000. The illustrative 40-guest budget in this guide combines The Hive with a restaurant reception and includes contingency. Replace every allocation with a real quote; availability and inclusions vary.
Bridebook's national budget split puts venue hire and catering together at 51%, or £10,200 of a £20,000 spending plan. That is a guide, not a rule. If £20,000 is your total ceiling, reserve contingency before dividing the remaining money.
Bridebook's West Midlands average is £6,980 below London's £26,986. That suggests scope for a lower regional budget, but it is not a like-for-like county comparison or a guarantee about any particular venue or supplier.
Set a guest-count range and a total ceiling before booking the venue. Those decisions shape much of your spend. The rest can flex around what matters most.
